Geek Girls Rule! #613 – Geek Girl Con!

Argh! I wrote this out, and then it got eaten!  Grrrrr.

Anyway, I spent the last two days at Geek Girl Con, and ran a couple sessions of Blue Rose for Green Ronin Publishing.

First, though, Friday we went to the first punk show we’ve been to in two years.  Our friends Ol’ Doris recorded a live album for their tenth anniversary.  I was so great to be there for that, and to see everyone! We’re hoping to make it out more often.

Then I was at Geek Girl Con for the bulk of Saturday and Sunday.  And, three months ago, this was an impossibility.  It’s amazing.

Anyway, I love Geek Girl Con!  And given that I’ve lost one draft of this, and that I have to get up and go to work and pretend to be a functional adult tomorrow, this is going to be short and sweet.

Things that I love about Geek Girl Con: There are so many children.  Young nerds in and out of costume, having a great time playing games.  There are more people of color at Geek Girl Con that at pretty much any other convention I have gone to.  There are a lot of out and proud queer fans.  And of course, the majority of the attendees are women.

The Exhibitors’ Hall was great! I’ll post pictures of my loot and of some amazing cosplayers later.

Also, I got to see some of my favorite humans, Tanya DePass of I Need Diverse Games, Shubzilla, and many other friends, old and new, like one of the wonderful ladies from the Carrots and Suffering podcast.

Ok, it’s bedtime.  Photos later.
