Ok, having written the rough drafts of two novels, and the second draft of the first one in the space of a year, I think I need to chill during the editing process and do some reading.
My housemate has a list prepared for me. On said list are:
The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch.
Everything Terry Pratchett ever wrote, including the three I actually have already read.
The Culture books by Iain M. Banks.
Everything by Anne Lecke including Ancillary Justice.
Things on my list include:
Ask Baba Yaga by Taisia Kitaiskaia.
She Walks in Shadows by Gemma Files
Finishing Nnedi Okorafor’s Who Fears Death.
Everything by KJ Charles and Jordan Hawk.
The Secret of Abdu El Yezdi by Mark Hodder.
The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle
The Merry Spinster by Mallory Ortberg
And a whole lot of others.
I really need to disable one click buying for ebooks on Amazon.
I am going to try really hard not to re-read anything this year. With the notable exception of those three Pratchett books, because I read them in the 80s/early 90s, and honestly, I can barely remember them.
I’m also going to be prioritizing books by women and POC.
Prepare yourself for a LOT of reviews. A LOT.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to charge my earbuds and settle in for some audiobooks while cleaning my closet.
