Well, the State of the Geek Girl What Rules has definitely improved. I’m still coughing, but the end is in sight. I did wind up on the losing end of a horrid spider bite, but antibiotics seem to be doing the trick. One way or another, the job situation will be improving.
What else have I been up to? Well, in true geek style, when Mr. Geek Girl What Rules saw a show on Food Network about Turkish Skewer Trenches, I did a little research. Then I went out into the yard and dug up a bunch of landscaping bricks I was planning on getting rid of anyway. Some friends came over to help me with moving the bricks to the appropriate area, and to help with chipping off excess concrete. Then we dug the trench, leveled the bottom by hand, laid the bricks in the bottom and lining the sides, then called Mr. Geek Girl What Rules and told him to bring home a bag of sand.
He was ecstatic, and it was totally worth the four hours of labor it took to get everything dug up, cleaned off, dug in and placed. We used it last night. It was perfect.
Yes, I built an archaic cooking method as a symbol of love for my husband.
I am such a dork.
Now to buy some tiki torches and a bunch of thrift store blankets so we can play Meg Baker’s 1,001 Nights while cooking skewers, eating and drinking… living the decadence.
Also, this weekend is Go Play NW, so look for a recap next week, and possibly podcasts from it. And I’m hoping to get the latest podcast edited and up. In it, I interview a gaming group made up primarily of 18 year old girls. Look for more of my old columns to be reposted here in the near future.
Hey!
I’m very excited about Go Play NW.
Remind me to talk with you about Cheap, and play it if we get a chance to. It’s a project of mine that I very much want feedback on, from a Feminist gamer standpoint. I think maybe you could provide that feedback brilliantly.
Cheers.
